My name is James and I work as a composer, pianist & music teacher, living in Battersea, London.
I trained in Piano, Music & Singing at the University of Leeds, as well as LCCM in London.
I currently write and perform my own piano music as well as pieces by contemporary piano masters such as Giovanni Allevi, Ludovico Einaudi and Chilly Gonzales, as well as classical composers.
My compositions have been used worldwide on TV trailers across the world from Poirot, Acer Laptops to Made in Chelsea.
For me the Piano is about discovering connections, creating a unique space for self-expression and artistic endeavour.
I began playing the piano after hearing Franz Liszt’s “Un Sospiro”. I was determined to make this my first piano piece, despite its seeming impossible difficulty.
My hope is to challenge outdated notions that “Classical music” should be a painful or impossible pursuit, challenging perhaps, yes, but I would like to open up a new way of approaching music for young pianists and players of all ages.
